Wearing a veil with loose hair — what to tell your stylist

Loose hair and a veil can sit beautifully together. The key is to decide where the comb belongs before the final styling begins, then give it a small, secure foundation that remains hidden beneath the movement of the hair.

What your stylist needs to know

Tell your stylist the veil’s length, weight and comb width, and bring it to your trial if you can. A cathedral veil with pearl detailing along the edge will need a stronger anchor than a plain fingertip veil, even when both are cut from the same tulle.

Our metal combs are ideal for hairstyles worn down. Your stylist can create a narrow horizontal braid or plait beneath the top layer of hair, allowing the comb to slide securely into the base rather than into loose strands. The comb’s long metal loops also allow hairpins to be placed horizontally through it, providing additional support while remaining hidden beneath the hair.

If you plan to remove your veil after the ceremony, practise doing so at your trial. One person should hold the hair in place while another gently removes the hairpins and lifts the comb upwards and away.
